Harris Narrows the Biden Deficit but Still Must Make Up Ground

BOCA RATON, Fla. (July 23, 2024) – A new poll of U.S. voters conducted by Florida Atlantic University’s Political Communication and Public Opinion Research Lab (PolCom Lab) and Mainstreet Research USA highlights current voter leanings that were examined immediately before U.S. President Joe Biden announced he was leaving the race. The results also may point to challenges and opportunities for both parties in the election ahead.

More than a dozen local and international pollsters, political reporters, and researchers spent the semester visiting a PolCom Lab-supported class on political and public opinion polling this spring.

Taught by Robert (Ted) Gutsche, Jr., the class focused on engaging with the problems and potentials of political polling and the meanings of data that communicate important issues of the day.
